LaMarcus Lamar Gully, Cocaine Delivery, Iowa 2016

FORT DODGE, IA – LaMarcus Lamar Gully, 31, is trading the streets of Fort Dodge for a federal cell. On May 15, 2017, Gully was sentenced to three years – 36 months – in federal prison after a laundry list of violations to his supervised release landed him back in trouble with the law. The repeat offender’s freedom was revoked by United States District Court Judge Mark W. Bennett in Sioux City.

Gully’s descent back into criminality wasn’t a single slip-up. Court records show a pattern of disregard for the terms of his release, including consistently failing drug tests. But it was the new charges that sealed his fate: a December 2015 conviction in Iowa state court for assault/domestic abuse, and, even more damning, two counts of delivery of cocaine in October 2016. He wasn’t just skirting the rules; he was actively engaging in further criminal activity.

The United States Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Iowa didn’t mess around. Assistant U.S. Attorney Shawn S. Wehde successfully argued for a consecutive sentence, meaning Gully will serve his federal time on top of any punishment he receives for the state convictions. And forget about a second chance – Judge Bennett ruled Gully will receive no further supervised release after completing his prison term. In the federal system, there’s no parole, and Gully will serve every minute of his sentence.

The investigation wasn’t a solo effort. The U.S. Probation Office, responsible for monitoring Gully’s behavior, flagged the violations, and the Fort Dodge Police Department provided crucial support in establishing the new criminal activity. It’s a reminder that even on supervised release, law enforcement remains vigilant, and repeat offenders can’t hide from their past.

Currently, Gully is in the custody of the United States Marshals Service, awaiting transfer to a designated federal correctional facility. While the details of his confinement remain to be seen, one thing is certain: LaMarcus Gully’s days of dealing and domestic violence on the streets of Fort Dodge are, for now, over.
