FORT DODGE, IA – Christopher Lee Caquelin, 41, is trading the streets of Fort Dodge for a federal prison cell. The man was sentenced to ten years behind bars for his role in a methamphetamine distribution conspiracy that plagued Webster County. The sentence was handed down by United States District Court Judge Leonard T. Strand in Sioux City.
Caquelin pled guilty on March 26, 2025, to one count of conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance and one count of distribution of a controlled substance. The charges stem from a lengthy investigation revealing Caquelin’s involvement in a drug operation that ran from January 1, 2023, through approximately October 31, 2024. Prosecutors proved Caquelin wasn’t just a user, but an active participant in supplying the Fort Dodge area with significant quantities of the deadly drug.
According to court documents, the conspiracy involved the distribution of 50 grams or more of pure methamphetamine. This isn’t small-time dealing; this is a substantial operation that fueled addiction and likely other crimes within the community. Caquelin and his co-conspirators peddled their poison directly to individuals throughout Fort Dodge, profiting from the misery of others.
The 120-month sentence isn’t just about punishment, it’s about incapacitation. With no parole in the federal system, Caquelin will serve the full decade. Following his release, he’ll be subject to a five-year term of supervised release, a period where his activities will be closely monitored. He is currently in the custody of the United States Marshals awaiting transport to a designated federal facility.
Assistant United States Attorneys Kevin C. Fletcher and Jack Lammers successfully prosecuted the case, built on solid police work from the Webster County Sheriff’s Office, the Fort Dodge Police Department, and the Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement. These agencies worked together to dismantle a dangerous criminal enterprise and bring Caquelin to justice.
