SAVANNAH, GA – A chilling four-count indictment has been lodged against four men following a high-stakes operation aimed at capturing online predators. The suspects are charged with Attempted Enticement and Inducement of a Minor to Engage in Sexual Activity, charges that carry a potential sentence ranging from 10 years to life in prison, according to Jill E. Steinberg, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Georgia.
The severity of these charges is underscored by the lifetime sex offender registration and supervised release that comes with conviction. The federal system offers no parole, leaving a stern reminder of the justice system’s resolve in protecting children from predators like Bobby Edwards Crews-Couch, 41, of Pooler; Lancaster Graham, 38, of Garden City; Clifton Newman, 34, of Savannah; and Henry London Taylor, 69, of Savannah.
“As exemplified in Operation Nightfall, the collaboration among multiple law enforcement agencies is critical in identifying adults who use online platforms to target children,” Steinberg emphasized. “We are committed to protecting our most vulnerable citizens.”
Operation Nightfall was a joint effort by the Georgia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, Homeland Security Investigations, the GBI’s Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes Unit, Savannah Police Department, and other state and local agencies. The operation led to seven arrests in total, with federal charges against the four men.
Prosecutors Sherri A. Stephan and Timothy P. Dean will handle the case for the United States. The public is reminded that any information on suspected child sexual exploitation can be reported to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children at 800-843-5678 or here.
