Fresno Man Caught with Grenade, Meth, and Ammunition: 5 Years to 40 Years in Prison
Fresno, CA – In a disturbing display of armed recklessness, Eric Feldmann, a 38-year-old man from Fresno, pleaded guilty to possessing methamphetamine with intent to distribute and being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, U.S. Attorney Phillip A. Talbert announced.
According to court documents, on December 24, 2023, Feldmann knowingly possessed an MKII hand grenade with a M204A2 Fuze in his car, which was subsequently seized and destroyed by police. Additionally, Feldmann was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and several boxes of .223 caliber ammunition. The defendant’s actions are a clear disregard for public safety and the law.
Feldmann’s conviction is not his first, having been convicted in Kings County of possession of a controlled substance for sale in 2017. As a result, he is prohibited from possessing a firearm or ammunition, making his current charges all the more egregious.
This case is the product of an investigation by the Fresno Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration, demonstrating the importance of collaborative law enforcement efforts in keeping our communities safe. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Justin J. Gilio and Cody S. Chapple are prosecuting the case, bringing justice to the people of Fresno.
Feldmann is scheduled to be sentenced by U.S. District Judge Jennifer L. Thurston on October 15, 2024. The defendant faces a mandatory minimum of five years to a maximum of 40 years in prison and a fine of up to $5 million for possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, as well as a maximum of 15 years in prison and a $250,000 fine for being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition. The actual sentence will be determined at the discretion of the court after consideration of any applicable statutory factors and the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, which take into account a number of variables.
