Gabriela Abundiz, Methamphetamine Distribution, Washington 2024

A 45-year-old woman from Yakima, Washington, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for distributing methamphetamine in the Eastern District of Washington.

Gabriela Abundiz, 45, was sentenced after pleading guilty to the crime. According to court documents, Abundiz was convicted of selling drugs in Montana in 2017 and received a 70-month prison sentence. Following her release, Abundiz was found to be selling drugs in the Eastern District of Washington, violating the terms of her supervised release.

On April 2, 2024, officers from the Omak Police Department (OPD) observed Abundiz entering an apartment. A warrant was obtained to enter the apartment and arrest Abundiz. Inside, police found two backpacks containing methamphetamine, 2,649 fentanyl pills, fentanyl powder, marijuana, a digital scale, and a pipe used for smoking drugs.

Abundiz was found with two cellphones at the time of her arrest. One of the phones contained pictures of large sums of cash, fentanyl pills, and text conversations regarding illegal drugs.

A federal judge in Yakima, Washington, has imposed a sentence of 180 months to be followed by 10 years of supervised release on Abundiz. Acting United States Attorney Richard R. Barker stated that Abundiz’s continued criminal conduct posed a serious threat to the safety and health of Eastern Washington communities.

The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Omak Police Department. It was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Michael Murphy.
