Buffalo Gang Member Pleads Guilty to RICO Conspiracy, Gun Charge
Tony Peebles, 27, a member of the notorious 10th Street Gang in Buffalo, NY, has pleaded guilty to RICO conspiracy and discharging a firearm during a crime of violence.
Peebles, who has been charged with participating in seven shootings that injured eight victims, including some with life-threatening injuries, faces a minimum penalty of 10 years in prison, a maximum of life, a $250,000 fine or both.
For the past several years, U.S. Attorney William J. Hochul, Jr. has been relentless in his pursuit of violent gang members and narcotics traffickers, resulting in over 150 predators behind bars, dozens of violent crimes solved, and declining violent crime rates across the District.
The 10th Street Gang, which operated on the West Side of Buffalo between 2000 and 2010, was involved in various crimes, including two murders, as well as selling marijuana, cocaine, crack cocaine, and other controlled substances.
Peebles is among 44 10th Street Gang members and associates charged in this case, with 38 already convicted. Sentencing is scheduled for July 30, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. before Judge Richard J. Arcara.
The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the New York State Police, the Buffalo Police Department, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
U.S. Attorney Hochul warned that the guilty plea should serve as a warning to remaining gang members: ‘your days are numbered.’
