United States Attorney Beth Drake has announced that Nikki M. Williamson, a 44-year-old resident of Gastonia, North Carolina, has been indicted by a Federal Grand Jury in Greenville, South Carolina, for the theft of government funds.
The one-count indictment charges Williamson with violating Title 18, United States Code, Section 641, which pertains to theft or embezzlement of government money. If convicted, Williamson could face a maximum penalty of $250,000 in fines and/or imprisonment of up to ten years.
This case was investigated by agents of the Department of Veterans Affairs, Office of Inspector General, and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney William J. Watkins, Jr., based out of the Greenville office.
