GAINESVILLE, Ga. – In a stunning undercover operation, federal agents have arrested Andres Jasso, Jr. and Rufino Pineda-Perez for trafficking over 700 pounds of methamphetamine hidden within a load of cucumbers outside a Gainesville warehouse.
“This is a massive seizure that will keep our streets safer,” declared U.S. Attorney Theodore S. Hertzberg. “We are committed to stopping these criminals before they can distribute their poison.”
The DEA Atlanta Division’s Acting Special Agent in Charge, Jae W. Chung, added, “Our highest priority is to protect our communities from drug traffickers like Jasso and Pineda-Perez.”
According to Hertzberg, the DEA Atlanta agents discovered the concealed drugs on June 30, 2025. The meth was found inside boxes of cucumbers in a tractor-trailer parked at the warehouse. The suspects were charged with possession with the intent to distribute methamphetamine.
Pineda-Perez, a citizen and national of Mexico, has a lengthy criminal history including deportation and felony convictions in Arizona. He faces additional charges for illegal reentry by a removed alien.
This investigation is part of the David G. Wilhelm Atlanta OCDETF Strike Force Initiative, which targets transnational organized crime syndicates. Assistant United States Attorney Johnny Baer is prosecuting the case.
