SAN DIEGO – The grim reign of Michael Pratt, the malevolent architect of the GirlsDoPorn sex trafficking empire, came to a brutal end as he was sentenced today in federal court to 27 years in prison. Pratt, who ruled over GirlsDoPorn.com and GirlsDoToys.com, constructed a multimillion-dollar criminal enterprise by ensnaring young women with deceit, coercion, and manipulation, before exposing their abuse to millions online.
Before the court today were 40 shattered lives, each bearing witness to their harrowing experiences. Women who were once hopeful young souls described in graphic detail how they were exploited, coerced, raped, and trapped within San Diego hotel rooms. The trauma they endured has led to years of suicide attempts, diagnoses of mental health issues like depression and PTSD, lost jobs, shattered relationships, relentless harassment, and a lifelong burden of shame and fear.
Pratt’s deceptions began with misleading modeling ads, targeting vulnerable women who were promised that their videos would remain private. In truth, these videos were broadcast to the world on Pratt’s websites and promoted on platforms like Pornhub, generating millions in revenue for him. His tactics included threats of lawsuits, cancelled flights, and exposure to trap victims within hotel rooms, many as young as 18.
“Pratt has caused me to fear my own name,” one woman said, while another declared, “The life I was meant to have died in that hotel room.” Many spoke directly to Pratt, asserting their triumph over his cruelties. One survivor who was a law student at the time of her exploitation vowed, “I am not your victim. I’m your reckoning…We are an army of survivors sharing our truth and we have won.”
After nearly five hours of gut-wrenching testimony from the women, U.S. District Judge Janis L. Sammartino delivered a decisive sentence. She cited Pratt’s leadership role in the massive trafficking organization as a reason to exceed the standard punishment, noting, “The sheer scope and magnitude of this offense causes this court to vary upward.” Throughout the conspiracy, GirlsDoPorn and GirlsDoToys were viewed by millions, with videos often reaching millions of views on Pornhub alone.
Pratt’s downfall serves as a stark reminder of the horrors that can stem from online sex trafficking. His case has highlighted the importance of combating this modern form of slavery and the need for justice for those who have been exploited and betrayed.
