Glock, Heroin, and Fentanyl: Huntington Man Gets 5 Years for Gun Crime

A Huntington man has been sentenced to five years in federal prison for a gun crime that put his community at risk.

Tyson Davis, Sr., 42, of Huntington, was convicted of possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, and today he faced the music for his actions, which led to a loaded Glock 23 .40 caliber pistol being found under the couch cushion on which he was seated during a police search of his 9th Avenue residence in Huntington on April 17, 2019.

According to court documents, police found not only the loaded pistol but also distribution amounts of a heroin and fentanyl mixture and methamphetamine during the search. Davis later admitted to possessing the firearm during a Mirandized interview.

Acting United States Attorney Lisa G. Johnston commended the investigative work of the Huntington Violent Crime Drug Task Force and the Huntington Police Department for their diligence in bringing Davis to justice.

United States District Judge Robert C. Chambers imposed the sentence, which is a fitting punishment for Davis’s actions.

Assistant United States Attorneys Ryan A. Keefe and R. Gregory McVey handled the prosecution, ensuring that Davis was held accountable for his crimes.
