Four Mexican nationals unlawfully residing in Las Vegas made their initial court appearances today to face charges of illegally reentering the United States after previously being removed from the country.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Nevada, Gonzalo Sanchez, 38, of Las Vegas, was charged with reentry of a removed alien in violation of 8 U.S.C. § 1326.
The charges carry a maximum penalty of up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
The indictment alleges that Sanchez had been previously deported from the United States in 2010 and 2015, and had been convicted of a felony in the United States in 2005.
The other three defendants, all 38 years old, were identified as Manuel Sanchez, of Las Vegas; Juan Sanchez, of Las Vegas; and Martin Sanchez, of Las Vegas. They also face charges of reentry of a removed alien in violation of 8 U.S.C. § 1326.
The indictment alleges that the defendants had all been previously deported from the United States and had been convicted of felonies in the United States.
