A 38-year-old New Orleans man was indicted for possession of child pornography in a federal court.
GRADY W. CLARK, III, was charged with possession of child pornography, according to a press release by the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
On January 20, 2017, special agents with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Homeland Security Investigations, executed a search warrant at CLARK’s residence and seized electronic items containing images of prepubescent children.
CLARK was arrested and appeared in federal court, where he was detained by a United States Magistrate Judge.
Court records revealed that CLARK was previously convicted on October 30, 2012, in Orleans Parish Criminal District Court for pornography involving juveniles.
According to U.S. Attorney Kenneth A. Polite, the indictment is merely a charge, and the guilt of the defendant must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.
Due to his prior conviction, if convicted, CLARK faces a mandatory minimum penalty of ten years imprisonment up to twenty years, followed by up to a life term of supervised release, and a $250,000 fine.
The case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse.
The prosecution of this case is being handled by Project Safe Childhood Coordinator and Fraud Section Chief, Assistant U.S. Attorney Brian M. Klebba.
