Eight Persons Charged with Robbing Metro Drug Dealers in New Orleans

A 14-count Superseding Indictment has been filed against Gregory Denson, 52, Corey Denson, 31, Carl Singleton, 30, Joe Lee Miller, 30, Quincy Jynes, 27, Bridgett Miles, 44, Escarlita Carmouche, 48, and Annette Robinson, 37, all of New Orleans, for their alleged roles in a conspiracy to rob metro drug dealers in New Orleans.

According to U.S. Attorney Kenneth A. Polite, the defendants are charged with Conspiracy to violate the Hobbs Act, which prohibits interference with interstate commerce through violence. Five of the defendants, Gregory Denson, Corey Denson, Joe Lee Miller, Quincy Jynes, and Carl Singleton, are also charged with various robberies and weapons offenses.

Gregory Denson is additionally charged with the murder of an individual to stop that individual from providing information to law enforcement authorities about his activities. Miller and Jynes are charged with helping to dispose of the body.

The charges in the Indictment are merely charges, and the guilt of the defendants must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt. U.S. Attorney Polite praised the work of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the New Orleans Police Department in investigating this matter. Assistant United States Attorneys Mark A. Miller and Michael M. Simpson are in charge of the prosecution.

The defendants face various penalties, including up to 20 years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000, and a term of supervised release of up to 3 years. In addition, Gregory Denson faces a possible life imprisonment or death sentence, and a fine of up to $250,000, if convicted of the murder of a federal witness.

The case is a significant blow to the organized crime ring in New Orleans, and demonstrates the commitment of law enforcement to bringing those responsible for violent crimes to justice.
