Frizli Merari Miguel-Martinez, Illegal Reentry, Florida 2024

PENSACOLA, FLORIDA – A 35-year-old Guatemalan national, Frizli Merari Miguel-Martinez, has been sentenced to eight months in federal prison for illegal reentry after having been previously removed from the United States multiple times. The sentence was announced by John P. Heekin, the United States Attorney for the Northern District of Florida.

Heekin emphasized the defendant’s repeated violations of national laws and the ongoing efforts to enforce immigration laws, stating, “The defendant not only repeatedly violated our national laws by illegally entering our country, he also committed numerous crimes while here. President Donald J. Trump and Attorney General Pam Bondi have promised to Take Back America by making the enforcement of our nation’s immigration laws a top priority.”

Miguel-Martinez was arrested on April 14, 2025, during a traffic stop in Santa Rosa County. He was found to be an illegal alien present in the United States despite being removed once in 2017 and twice in 2019. His criminal history includes convictions for leaving the scene of an accident, failure to appear, and providing false information to law enforcement.

Miguel-Martinez had previously been convicted for Illegal Reentry in the Northern District of Florida and for Illegal Entry in the District of Arizona. After serving his federal prison term, he will begin deportation proceedings and face a one-year term of supervised release, with potential additional incarceration if he violates his supervision.

The case was jointly investigated by ICE’s operational directorates, including Homeland Security Investigations and Enforcement Removal Operations. Assistant United States Attorney Jennifer H. Callahan prosecuted the case. This sentencing is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative aimed at combating illegal immigration and transnational criminal organizations.
