Alvaro Carrillo, a 33-year-old Guatemalan national, pleaded guilty to depredation of government property after intentionally striking a government vehicle with his car in Portland, Oregon. The incident occurred on November 11, 2025, when federal border patrol agents attempted to initiate a traffic stop, and Carrillo fled the scene, striking the agents’ vehicle several times before losing control and colliding with a concrete barrier.
Carrillo’s actions led to a two-count indictment, which included charges of aggravated assault and depredation of government property. The case was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations and prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Oregon.
On December 9, 2025, a federal grand jury returned the indictment, and Carrillo was sentenced to time served after spending nearly five months in custody. He was also ordered to pay $1,409.27 in restitution.
The outcome of this case demonstrates the commitment of law enforcement agencies to holding individuals accountable for their actions, particularly when they involve violence against government property and personnel.
