Guy G. Gebhardt, Bankruptcy System Corruption, Florida 2013

WASHINGTON – Bankruptcy system corruption has reached new heights in Florida, as Attorney General Eric Holder has appointed a new enforcer to oversee the region. Guy G. Gebhardt has been tapped as the Acting U.S. Trustee for Florida, Georgia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands, effective January 12, 2013.

Gebhardt replaces Donald F. Walton, who is retiring after 25 years with the U.S. Trustee Program. Walton’s departure marks the end of an era, as he has been a stalwart in the fight against bankruptcy system corruption.

Gebhardt has a long history of fighting against financial crimes, having served as the Assistant U.S. Trustee in the Atlanta office since 1991. During his tenure, he has participated in numerous working groups to implement USTP priorities, including coordinating national enforcement against identity theft and unlawful ‘foreclosure rescue’ operations.

His expertise in the field of bankruptcy law has earned him numerous accolades, including the Director’s Award for Exemplary Service in November 2002. Before joining the U.S. Trustee Program, Gebhardt practiced law in Atlanta for 17 years, honing his skills in the courtroom.

The U.S. Trustee Program is the component of the Justice Department that protects the integrity of the bankruptcy system by overseeing case administration and litigating to enforce the bankruptcy laws. The program has 21 regions and 95 field offices, with Region 21 headquartered in Atlanta.

With Gebhardt at the helm, the people of Florida and the surrounding regions can rest assured that their bankruptcy system is in capable hands. His extensive experience and expertise make him the perfect candidate to tackle the complex issues facing the region.
