A Pittsburgh man has been charged with violating federal firearms and narcotic laws, Acting United States Attorney Stephen R. Kaufman announced today.
Guy Wallar, Jr., 24, was named as the sole defendant in a four-count superseding indictment before a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh.
According to the indictment, on or about June 28, 2021, Wallar, Jr. possessed with intent to distribute a quantity of a mixture and substance containing a detectable amount of cocaine.
He was also charged with possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime and possessing ammunition by a convicted felon. If convicted, he could face a maximum total sentence of life imprisonment, a fine not to exceed $2,000,000 or both.
The investigation, which led to the indictment, was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the City of Duquesne Police Department.
Assistant United States Attorney Brendan J. McKenna is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government. A superseding indictment is an accusation, and Wallar, Jr. is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
The law provides for a maximum total sentence of life imprisonment, a fine not to exceed $2,000,000 or both. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed would be based upon the seriousness of the offenses and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.
A hearing date has not been set, and Indicate relevant bond/detention information if known.
