DWINE HARDY, Gun and Drug Crimes, Louisiana 2023

New Orleans, LA – In a brazen move, 32-year-old DWINE HARDY, a resident of New Orleans, has been charged with a string of federal gun and drug crimes, leaving a trail of destruction in his wake. According to court documents, on December 23, 2023, Kenner police officers arrested HARDY for being a felon in possession of 15 rounds of .40 caliber ammunition and a stolen Glock Model 23, .40 caliber pistol equipped with a machinegun conversion device and an extended twenty-two round capacity magazine.

The indictment, handed down by a federal grand jury in Louisiana, charges HARDY with four counts of federal crimes, including being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition (Count One), possession of a machinegun (Count Two), possession with the intent to distribute cocaine hydrochloride (Count Three), and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime (Count Four).

The charges carry severe penalties, with HARDY facing up to 15 years of imprisonment, up to a $250,000 fine, and up to 3 years of supervised release for Count One. For Count Two, he faces up to 10 years imprisonment, up to a $250,000 fine, and up to 3 years of supervised release. Count Three carries a potential sentence of up to 20 years of imprisonment, up to a $1,000,000 fine, and at least 3 years of supervised release. Meanwhile, Count Four comes with a mandatory minimum 5-year term up to life imprisonment, up to a $250,000 fine, and up to 5 years of supervised release.

In addition to the severe penalties, HARDY also faces payment of a $100 mandatory special assessment fee for all four counts. This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence in local communities.

The investigation was led by the United States Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives and the Kenner Police Department, with Assistant United States Attorney Troy Bell of the Violent Crimes Unit handling the prosecution.

U.S. Attorney Evans emphasized that the indictment is merely a charge, and the guilt of the defendant must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt. As the case unfolds, it remains to be seen whether HARDY will face theMusic of his crimes or find a way to weasel out of the charges.
