Harold Jumale Anderson, Methamphetamine Possession, Louisiana 2016

Harold Jumale Anderson, a 42-year-old Natchitoches man, has been brought to justice for his involvement in the illicit methamphetamine trade.

Anderson pleaded guilty to one count of possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute and one count of possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking. The charges stem from a controlled buy of methamphetamine conducted by law enforcement agents on August 18, 2015 in Alexandria.

During the investigation, agents found more than 500 grams of methamphetamine, a loaded Ruger 9 mm handgun, and additional ammunition in Anderson’s bedroom. The discovery of these incriminating items served as a testament to Anderson’s involvement in the illicit drug trade.

Anderson now faces a harsh sentence for his crimes. He is eligible for 10 years to life in prison for the methamphetamine possession count. Additionally, he faces a minimum of five years in prison for the firearm count, which will run consecutive to the methamphetamine possession count.

The total sentence could be up to 15 years in prison. A $10 million fine and at least five years of supervised release are also part of the penalty. A sentencing date of July 20, 2016 has been set for Anderson.

The investigation into Anderson’s activities was a collaborative effort between the FBI and the Louisiana State Police. Assistant U.S. Attorney Allison D. Bushnell is prosecuting the case.

Anderson’s plea serves as a reminder of the severe consequences of engaging in illicit activities. The people of Louisiana can rest a little easier knowing that justice has been served in this case.
