Felix ‘P.R.’ Jimenez, a Hartford gang member, was today sentenced by U.S. District Judge Victor A. Bolden to 60 months in federal prison for selling heroin, crack cocaine, and firearms.
The investigation into Jimenez’s activities began in September 2014 when the FBI’s Northern Connecticut Violent Crimes Task Force and the Hartford Police Department targeted Los Solidos, a gang operating in the city’s South End. The probe led to charges against about 30 individuals following wiretaps and controlled purchases.
Jimenez was found to be distributing drugs to street-level dealers and selling firearms. He was also caught through controlled buys of handguns, rifles, and ammunition between May and June 2015.
JIMENEZ has a lengthy criminal history, with nine felony convictions, including possession and sale of narcotics, violation of protective orders, risk of injury to a minor, and larceny. He pleaded guilty on October 24, 2016.
Michael J. Gustafson, Assistant U.S. Attorney, is handling the prosecution of this case, which is part of Project Longevity, an initiative aimed at reducing gun violence in Connecticut’s cities. The project includes community members and law enforcement engaging with gang members to discourage violence.
The FBI Task Force involved included members from the Hartford Police Department, East Hartford Police Department, Connecticut State Police, and Connecticut Department of Correction, with support from the U.S. Marshals Service and Capitol Region Emergency Response Team (CREST).
