Christopher Chase, Enticement of a Minor, New York 2024

BUFFALO, N.Y. – Christopher Chase, 49, of Williamsville, New York, is facing federal charges after allegedly attempting to meet a 15-year-old girl for sexual activity, Acting U.S. Attorney James P. Kennedy, Jr. announced today. Chase was arrested and charged by criminal complaint with enticement of a minor, a charge that carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

The disturbing details outlined in the complaint reveal a calculated attempt to exploit a vulnerable individual. According to investigators, on March 10, 2017, Chase, operating under the online alias “The Dark Father,” initiated contact with a female and bluntly inquired if she was seeking a boyfriend and if she had a preference for older men. He explicitly stated his desire for an “[e]specially submissive” girlfriend, immediately raising red flags. He then demanded a cell number to continue the conversation.

The next day, the conversation took a sinister turn. Chase sent a text message directly questioning the girl’s age: “Now the evil question are you really 18.” When the girl truthfully revealed she was only 15, Chase didn’t back down. Instead, he continued to pursue her, repeatedly requesting “naughty photos” and engaging in graphic online exchanges detailing explicit sexual acts. This wasn’t idle chat; Chase was actively planning a meeting.

On March 29, 2017, Chase arranged to meet the girl at a Walgreens in Depew, New York, on April 2, 2017, with the clear intent of having sex with her. Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) agents were alerted and sprang into action. On the day of the planned meeting, agents observed Chase’s vehicle parked near the Walgreens. As he entered the parking lot, they moved in and placed him under arrest. A search revealed Chase was carrying condoms and sex lubricant, further cementing the intent behind his actions.

The investigation, led by Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Homeland Security Investigations, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge James C. Spero, brought this predator to justice. Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Brian J. Counihan is prosecuting the case. This case serves as a chilling reminder of the dangers lurking online and the vigilance required to protect vulnerable children.

It’s crucial to remember that an indictment is not a determination of guilt. As the Department of Justice stresses, the defendant, Christopher Chase, is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in a court of law. Grimy Times will continue to follow this case and report on any developments.
