Patrick Nowicke, Methamphetamine Possession with Intent to Distribute, California 2005

HONOLULU – Patrick Nowicke, 44, of Wahiawa, Hawaii, has been indicted on charges that include possessing over ten pounds of methamphetamine with intent to distribute. The grim case involves an armed barricade where law enforcement seized the dangerous substances and firearms.

Acting United States Attorney Ken Sorenson announced the charges against Nowicke, who was arrested on July 13, 2025, after a tense standoff in his residence. Nowicke is also accused of possessing firearms in furtherance of drug trafficking and illegally possessing a firearm as a convicted felon.

During the arrest, law enforcement found an illegal short-barreled rifle, a 9mm privately made firearm, ammunition, a suspected silencer, and a smoke grenade. If convicted, Nowicke could face life in prison, with mandatory minimum sentences totaling 25 years for the drug and firearm charges alone.

According to court documents, Nowicke’s actions were terroristic in nature. The charges against him are merely accusations, and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. Sentencing would be determined by a United States District Judge based on statutory factors and the advisory U.S. Sentencing Guidelines.

The Drug Enforcement Administration and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are leading the investigation into Nowicke’s case, with assistance from the Honolulu Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Sara D. Ayabe is handling the prosecution.

This case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative aimed at eliminating cartels and transnational criminal organizations while protecting communities from violent crime.
