Hazeon Kidd, a 24-year-old Pittsburgh resident, has pleaded guilty to a charge of Felon in Possession of a Firearm and Ammunition, bringing an end to a months-long investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police.
According to court documents, Kidd was a passenger in a vehicle pulled over by police on May 18, 2024. During a search of the vehicle, officers discovered a loaded firearm in close proximity to where Kidd was seated.
Kidd’s possession of the firearm is a serious offense, as he has a previous conviction in federal court for firearm and drug trafficking offenses. As a result, it is illegal for him to possess firearms.
Kidd’s guilty plea was entered before United States District Judge Cathy Bissoon. Sentencing has been scheduled for July 24, 2025, at 10:00 am.
The law provides for a total sentence of fifteen years in prison, a fine of $250,000, or both. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence will be based on the seriousness of the offense and Kidd’s prior criminal history.
Assistant United States Attorney Brendan T. Conway is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government.
This case serves as a reminder of the importance of enforcing laws related to firearm possession, particularly for those with a history of violent crime. The Pittsburgh community can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that a dangerous individual is being held accountable for their actions.
