CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A previously removed illegal alien has been charged with trafficking kilogram quantities of methamphetamine in the Western District of North Carolina. According to court documents, 30-year-old Hector Hernandez Orozco of Mexico sold approximately two pounds of methamphetamine to an undercover law enforcement officer on April 3, 2025.
Additionally, Hernandez Orozco had been previously removed from the United States on two occasions: once on November 20, 2016, near Del Rio, Texas, and again on November 30, 2016, near Hidalgo, Texas. This latest conviction marks another instance of Hernandez Orozco’s disregard for U.S. immigration laws and his involvement in the distribution of illicit narcotics.
The charges against Hernandez Orozco stem from his role in distributing and possessing with intent to distribute methamphetamine. The guilty plea to these charges carries a minimum penalty of 10 years in prison and a maximum of life in prison. The illegal reentry offense also carries a maximum term of two years in prison.
U.S. Attorney Russ Ferguson commended the Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) for their investigation of the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney William Bozin of the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Charlotte is prosecuting the case.
Hernandez Orozco’s sentencing date has not been set. As he awaits his fate, it is clear that his actions have severe consequences. The fight against drug trafficking and immigration offenses requires the dedication and expertise of law enforcement agencies like HSI.
The case serves as a reminder that those who break U.S. laws, including immigration laws, will be held accountable. The Western District of North Carolina remains committed to protecting its communities from the scourge of drug trafficking and other serious crimes.
