Pulaski County Man Sentenced for Methamphetamine Trafficking
A Bronston, Ky., man, France Allen Helton, 42, was sentenced on Tuesday to 250 months in prison, for possession with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine.
Helton was pulled over in a traffic stop on March 29, 2023, and police seized 55.9 grams of a methamphetamine mixture packaged in two separate baggies, along with $2,529 in cash. According to his plea agreement, Helton admitted that he intended to distribute the methamphetamine to others.
This isn’t Helton’s first time around the block. He has a prior conviction for trafficking in methamphetamine from the Pulaski Circuit Court in 2019.
Under federal law, Helton must serve 85 percent of his prison sentence, which amounts to 21.25 years. Upon his release from prison, he will be under the supervision of the U.S. Probation Office for eight years.
The investigation was led by the FBI and Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Pearce Nesbitt prosecuting the case on behalf of the United States.
U.S. District Judge Robert Wier handed down the sentence, which was announced jointly by Carlton S. Shier, IV, United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Kentucky; Michael E. Stansbury, Special Agent in Charge, FBI Louisville Field Office; and Sheriff Bobby Jones, Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office.
It’s clear that Helton’s addiction to methamphetamine has consumed his life and led him down a path of destruction. We hope that this sentence serves as a deterrent to others who would engage in similar activities.
