A Picayune man has been sentenced to nearly 15 years in prison for his role in a massive methamphetamine conspiracy.
Jeremy Cyntel Turner, 32, of Picayune, was sentenced on May 24, 2024, to 179 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute 124.7 kilograms of methamphetamine.
An investigation launched in 2015 into a large-scale drug trafficking organization in Picayune, Mississippi, ultimately led to Turner’s arrest and conviction.
According to court records, Turner was identified as a key player in the conspiracy in 2018, and his involvement was confirmed during a 2020 arrest of other co-conspirators. Turner admitted to retrieving a package containing methamphetamine at his Picayune address, and investigators attributed a total of 124.7 kilograms of the drug to him.
The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), with Assistant U.S. Attorney Erica Rose leading the prosecution.
The case is part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) operation, which targets high-level drug traffickers and transnational criminal organizations. U.S. Attorney Todd W. Gee and Assistant Special Agent in Charge Anessa Daniels-McCaw of the DEA commended the work of law enforcement agencies in bringing Turner to justice.
Turner’s sentencing brings an end to a long and complex investigation that spanned multiple years and involved numerous law enforcement agencies. The conviction serves as a reminder of the serious consequences for those involved in large-scale drug trafficking operations.
