MOBILE, AL – In a shocking turn of events, Henry Earl Young was sentenced to seven years imprisonment on Friday by United States District Court Judge Kristi D. DuBose for using a weapon in furtherance of a crime of violence (bank robbery) in violation of Title 18 USC 924(c).
Young committed an armed robbery of $2,731 from Trustmark Bank located at 1025 Highway 43, Saraland, Alabama on April 24, 2013. Law enforcement recovered the other $225.00 from Young at the time of his arrest.
Young was ordered to serve five years of supervised release with the United States Probation Office after he completes his term of imprisonment at the Federal Bureau of Prisons. He was also ordered to pay $2,506 in restitution to the bank and a $100 special assessment, which goes into a fund for victims of crime.
United States Attorney Kenyen R. Brown highly commended the joint efforts of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the City of Saraland Police Department in investigating and prosecuting this case.
Brown stated that his office would continue to aggressively prosecute bank robbers and individuals who use weapons in furtherance of a crime of violence, thus endangering the community.
Young’s sentencing marks a significant victory for law enforcement and the people of Mobile County. The case serves as a reminder that bank robbers will be held accountable for their crimes and will face severe consequences.
The investigation was jointly conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the City of Saraland Police Department. Young was arrested on the day of the robbery, April 24, 2013.
