Heriberto Eddie Garcia, Methamphetamine and Cocaine Trafficking, Montana 2024

A California man was brought before a U.S. Magistrate Judge today, facing charges of methamphetamine and cocaine trafficking in Montana.

Heriberto Eddie Garcia, 45, pleaded not guilty to two counts: conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute controlled substances and possession with intent to distribute controlled substances.

According to the indictment, Garcia allegedly conspired with others to possess over 50 grams of methamphetamine and over 500 grams of cocaine between May 2023 and January 2024.

He was also charged with knowingly and unlawfully possessing the same substances with the intent to distribute on January 22, 2024.

U.S. Attorney Kurt Alme confirmed that if convicted, Garcia faces a mandatory minimum term of 10 years in prison, a maximum term of life, a $10,000,000 fine, and at least 5 years of supervised release.

Garcia was released pending further proceedings, with the U.S. Attorney’s Office handling the prosecution.

The investigation was conducted by the DEA, Montana Highway Patrol, and Laurel Police Department as part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative targeting cartels and transnational criminal organizations.
