Heroin Trafficker Pleads Guilty in Missouri

A Chicago man has pleaded guilty to a massive heroin trafficking operation in southeast Missouri. Daryl Wheeler, 46, admitted to conspiring to distribute over 538 grams of heroin in the Charleston, Mississippi County area between September 14, 2017 and February 23, 2019.

According to court documents, Wheeler and his associates worked together to distribute the deadly substance to users in the region. The massive operation spanned nearly two years, leaving a trail of addiction and destruction in its wake.

The investigation was led by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Southeast Missouri Drug Task Force, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Explosives and Firearms. Assistant United States Attorney Timothy Willis handled the prosecution for the government.

Wheeler’s guilty plea comes with severe consequences. He faces a minimum sentence of five years incarceration, with a maximum sentence of up to 40 years imprisonment. His sentencing is set for December 21, 2021 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

The guilty plea marks a major victory for law enforcement in the fight against heroin trafficking. The operation highlights the devastating impact of heroin on communities and the importance of holding those responsible accountable.
