Heroin Trafficker Sentenced to 127 Months
SCRANTON – A Wilkes-Barre woman has been sentenced to 127 months’ imprisonment for her involvement in a conspiracy that distributed over 1,000 grams of heroin and other drugs throughout Luzerne, Lackawanna, and Wyoming Counties.
Danielle Moorer, 36, was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Robert D. Mariani on September 2, 2021, after previously pleading guilty to conspiring with others to distribute more than one kilogram of heroin between 2015 and 2018.
Moorer admitted to possessing firearms in connection with her drug trafficking activities, and her conviction and sentence resulted from a federal investigation involving her and her husband, Hakim Wilburn, as drug traffickers operating in the region.
Wilburn previously pleaded guilty to conspiring to distribute more than one kilogram of heroin and was sentenced to 198 months’ imprisonment.
As part of the investigation, federal agents seized approximately $100,000 in cash from Moorer and Wilburn, which was forfeited as a result of their prosecution, along with multiple Rolex watches, vehicles, and four firearms.
The case was investigated by agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and members of the Wilkes-Barre Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Michelle Olshefski prosecuted the case.
This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program aimed at reducing violent crime and making neighborhoods safer. The Heroin Initiative, led by the United States Attorney’s Office, targets heroin traffickers operating in the Middle District of Pennsylvania and is part of a coordinated effort among federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies to combat the nationwide epidemic of heroin use and distribution.
