NELSON FLORES-CRUZ, a 30-year-old citizen of Honduras, has been charged with illegally reentering the United States. According to court documents, FLORES-CRUZ was found in the country on August 12, 2014, after having been officially deported and removed on July 11, 2008.
FLORES-CRUZ faces a maximum term of imprisonment of two years and a fine of $250,000, or the greater of twice the gross gain to the defendant, one year supervised release after imprisonment, and a $100 special assessment. U.S. District Judge Martin L. C. Feldman has set sentencing for April 8, 2015.
U.S. Attorney Kenneth A. Polite praised the work of the Department of Homeland Security/Immigration and Custom Enforcement and Removal in investigating this matter. Assistant United States Attorney Irene González is in charge of the prosecution.
