Jessie King, Federal Drug Trafficking, Texas 2023

HOUSTON – Jessie King, a 35-year-old Cypress resident, has been sentenced to federal prison for his role in the methamphetamine trade.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office announced that King was ordered to serve 60 months behind bars followed by five years of supervised release. The court emphasized the severity of the crime, citing the substantial amount of methamphetamine and King’s impact on communities through his trafficking activities.

King’s downfall began on November 17, 2020, when authorities intercepted a phone call between him and Billy Ray Ashley discussing the procurement of ‘whites.’ Later that day, King visited Ashley and was observed engaging in a suspected drug transaction. Law enforcement followed King to recover over 700 grams of methamphetamine, packaged into two ‘K packs’ containing 1,000 pills each.

The investigation led to King’s conviction on possession of methamphetamine, with his sentence being handed down by U.S. District Judge George C. Hanks Jr. King will remain in custody pending transfer to a Federal Bureau of Prisons facility.

Billy Ray Ashley, who pleaded guilty earlier this year, was sentenced to 120 months for his involvement in the same scheme.

The FBI conducted the investigation with support from the Houston Police Department and Texas Department of Public Safety. Assistant U.S. Attorneys John Lewis and John Ganz prosecuted the case.
