Quintez Robert Kilgore, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, West Virginia 2023

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – In a gritty turn of events, Quintez Robert Kilgore, also known as “Cortez Robert Jackson,” 28, from Huntington, pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm, marking another blow to the city’s crime landscape.

According to court documents and statements, on November 6, 2023, officers were on the hunt for a fugitive when they stumbled upon Kilgore on Olive Street. During their search, they discovered a Glock Model 33 .357-caliber pistol stowed beneath a vehicle. Kilgore’s plan to conceal the firearm was thwarted as he tried to hide it, leading to his arrest.

But the shock didn’t end there. Officers also seized 12.64 grams of cocaine base and 9.78 grams of fentanyl, both of which were intended for distribution. Kilgore’s prior felony convictions made him ineligible for firearm ownership, yet he defiantly possessed a weapon and drugs.

Kilgore’s sentence is set to be determined on September 3, 2024, where he faces a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison, three years of supervised release, and a $250,000 fine. The case was announced by United States Attorney Will Thompson, who commended the investigative efforts of the United States Marshals Service and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

United States District Judge Robert C. Chambers presided over the hearing, with Assistant United States Attorney Joseph F. Adams prosecuting the case. The charges against Kilgore are part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence across communities.
