George Holloway, Heroin Distribution, West Virginia 2016

The streets of Huntington just got a little safer thanks to the efforts of federal law enforcement. On March 26, United States Attorney Carol Casto announced that George Holloway, a 45-year-old Huntington man, has been sentenced to 4 years and 3 months in federal prison for his role in distributing heroin in the city.

According to the investigation, Holloway sold approximately 20 grams of heroin to a confidential informant working with the Huntington FBI Drug Task Force on June 7, 2016. This was not the only time Holloway was involved in heroin trafficking. As part of his plea agreement, Holloway admitted to distributing heroin on four other occasions in 2015 and 2016.

The investigation into Holloway‘s activities was led by the Huntington FBI Drug Task Force. Assistant United States Attorney Stephanie S. Taylor handled the prosecution, while United States District Judge Robert C. Chambers imposed the sentence.

This case is part of an ongoing effort by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of West Virginia to combat the illicit sale and misuse of illegal drugs. The office, along with federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies, is committed to aggressively pursuing and shutting down pill trafficking, eliminating open-air drug markets, and curbing the spread of illegal drugs in communities across the Southern District.

The sentencing of Holloway is a significant blow to the heroin trade in Huntington. Heroin has been a major problem in the city for years, and the efforts of law enforcement have been instrumental in reducing the number of heroin-related overdoses and arrests.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office will continue to work tirelessly to bring those responsible for drug trafficking and distribution to justice. The community can take comfort in knowing that there are those who are working hard to keep our streets safe.
