BIG TIME: Grandview Man Gets 27 Months for Methamphetamine
BOISE – In a stunning blow to Idaho’s methamphetamine trade, 45-year-old Jose Antonio Diaz-Juarez of Grandview was sentenced to 27 months in prison for his role in a high-profile conspiracy to distribute the deadly drug, the Grimy Times has learned.
According to court documents, Diaz-Juarez, a resident of Grandview, Idaho, conspired to distribute methamphetamine in the state between July 24, 2015, and September 8, 2015. The defendant and his co-conspirators arranged for three separate deliveries of methamphetamine to the Boise area, but an investigating officer was able to intervene, foiling their plans.
This isn’t the first time authorities have cracked down on Diaz-Juarez’s associates. Codefendant Daniel Valdenegro-Zafiro, 24, of Elko, Nevada, was sentenced to 52 months in prison for conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine on April 19, 2016. Judge B. Lynn Winmill also ordered Valdenegro-Zafiro to forfeit $8,200 in drug proceeds.
Another codefendant, Diego Alejandro Alcantar-Armenta, 29, of Elko, Nevada, was sentenced on March 21, 2016, to 42 months in prison for his role in the conspiracy. Judge Winmill also ordered Alcantar-Armenta to forfeit $8,200 in drug proceeds.
But Diaz-Juarez is the biggest catch yet. His sentence is a stark reminder that methamphetamine dealers will be brought to justice, no matter how hard they try to hide. Diaz-Juarez will be deported to Mexico at the end of his prison term.
The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration, Ada County Sheriff’s Office, Elmore County Sheriff’s Office, Owyhee County Sheriff’s Office, and the Elko Combined Narcotic Unit of Elko, Nevada.
