ATLANTA & GAINESVILLE, Ga. – Ricardo Trejo-Martinez and Hector Beltran-Ledesma, both illegal aliens from Mexico, were charged this week with assaulting or resisting federal deportation officers, according to the Department of Justice (DOJ).
The charges stem from two separate incidents. In one instance, on May 20, 2025, Trejo-Martinez is accused of shoving a deportation officer into traffic on a four-lane highway in Commerce, Georgia, after refusing to provide identification.
Beltran-Ledesma was charged with forcibly resisting arrest following his attempted flight from officers in Roswell, Georgia, on June 21, 2025. He also faces charges of illegal re-entry into the United States after prior deportation.
U.S. Attorney Theodore S. Hertzberg emphasized the government’s zero-tolerance policy for attacks on law enforcement officers, stating that anyone who endangers or obstructs federal law enforcement will be held accountable. Steven N. Schrank, Special Agent in Charge of Homeland Security Investigations in Georgia and Alabama, echoed these sentiments, highlighting the commitment to holding violent individuals accountable.
Both cases are being investigated by the Department of Homeland Security’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement as part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative targeting illegal immigration and transnational criminal organizations.
The public is reminded that the complaints contain only charges, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty. Further information can be obtained from the U.S. Attorney’s Public Affairs Office at USAGAN.PressEmails@usdoj.gov or (404) 581-6185.
