BUFFALO, N.Y. – The grim tale of illegal immigration in the U.S. takes a new turn as Ancelma Contreras Pano, 40, and Ana Castro Castro, 38, find themselves facing the music for illegal re-entry into the country. Both women, citizens of Mexico and Ecuador respectively, have been charged with re-entering after being previously deported.
Contreras Pano’s fall from grace began on July 31, 2025, when she was stopped as a passenger in a van by Border Patrol Agents in Amherst. It turned out she had no legal documents to be in the U.S., and it wasn’t her first rodeo; she had been deported back in June 2015.
Castro Castro’s story unfolded on August 1, 2025, when she was pulled over by police officers in Lancaster. The Ecuadorian national also lacked any legal documents for her presence in the U.S., and her expulsion from the country came a mere two years ago in July 2021.
These cases are part of Operation Take Back America, a Department of Justice initiative to combat illegal immigration, dismantle cartels, and protect communities. Both defendants appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Jeremiah J. McCarthy, where they were detained pending further proceedings.
The investigation into these cases was led by the U.S. Border Patrol under Patrol Agent-in-Charge David Banks. It is important to note that the charges are merely accusations, and both women are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
As the gritty narrative of illegal immigration continues in the United States, the story of Contreras Pano and Castro Castro serves as a stark reminder of the consequences faced by those who attempt to circumvent the law’s strictures. Stay tuned to Grimy Times for more on this developing story.
