Saul Ramirez-Rivera, Homicide by Vehicle, Pennsylvania 2025

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – In a grim reminder of the consequences of illegal immigration and dangerous driving, Saul Ramirez-Rivera, 26, from Mexico, has been handed a 14-month sentence for his role in a deadly hit-and-run incident in Dormont, Pennsylvania.

On July 28, 2025, Ramirez-Rivera pleaded guilty to charges of illegal reentry of a removed alien, marking the culmination of a case that began with a tragic accident on September 21, 2024. Ramirez-Rivera was sentenced for homicide by vehicle, accident involving death or injury while not licensed, reckless driving, driving without a license, and failure to stop at a red signal.

The court’s decision came after it was revealed that Ramirez-Rivera had been previously removed from the United States in February 2019 following a federal conviction for illegal entry. His latest sentence will see him returned to immigration custody upon his release, marking the second time he has faced the repercussions of his illegal actions.

Assistant United States Attorney Rebecca L. Silinski prosecuted the case on behalf of the U.S., while Acting United States Attorney Troy Rivetti commended the efforts of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations as well as the Allegheny County Police for their roles in the investigation.

This case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative aiming to eliminate cartels, combat illegal immigration, and protect communities from violent crime.
