MARTINSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA – Wesley Chalk, 41, of Inwood, West Virginia, is facing the full weight of federal law after being indicted by a Wheeling grand jury on charges of possessing and distributing sickening material. The indictment, handed down today, accuses Chalk of engaging in a depraved practice that exploits vulnerable children.
According to Acting United States Attorney Betsy Steinfeld Jividen, Chalk is charged with one count of “Distribution and Receipt of Chi

y” and one count of “Possession of Child Pornography.” Investigators allege Chalk not only received but actively distributed images depicting a prepubescent minor and another under the age of 12. The alleged criminal activity spanned from March 2015 to August 2016, all within Berkeley County, West Virginia.
If convicted on either count, Chalk could face a lengthy prison sentence – up to twenty years – and a hefty fine of up to $250,000. The actual sentence, however, will be determined by Federal Sentencing Guidelines, taking into account the severity of the crimes and any prior criminal history the defendant may have.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephen L. Vogrin is leading the prosecution, determined to see justice served in this horrific case. The investigation was spearheaded by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, who uncovered the disturbing evidence that led to the indictment.
This indictment is a stark reminder of the dark corners of the internet and the predators who lurk within. While the charges are serious, it’s crucial to remember that an indictment is merely an accusation. Chalk is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Grimy Times will continue to follow this case and provide updates as they become available. This is a developing story and represents another example of the federal government’s ongoing commitment to combating the exploitation of children and bringing perpetrators to justice. The details of this case are disturbing, and we will report them with the seriousness they deserve.
