Austin, Texas – A chilling tale of illegal immigration rears its head as Jamil Bahlouli, a 32-year-old Iranian national, faces charges for violating a deportation order. According to court documents, Bahlouli was given a final order of removal in 2020 due to his illegal presence in the U.S. He evaded the law by self-deporting to Canada in October 2021 but was found back in the States in December 2023.
January brought conviction for illegal entry in Montana, and Bahlouli served time. His removal order from 2020 was reinstated, and he was released, but failed to report as scheduled to the ICE Office in San Antonio. The criminal complaint filed on June 25, 2025, accuses him of not reporting.
Bahlouli’s defiance reached new heights when deportation officers found him in Austin. They attempted to arrest him at his residence, but he slammed the door shut, refusing to comply with the law. His alleged actions were aimed at preventing or obstructing his deportation.
Bahlouli now stands charged with one count of failure to deport, a charge that could land him up to four years behind bars if convicted. A federal district court judge will decide his fate after considering U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other factors.
U.S. Attorney Justin R. Simmons for the Western District of Texas announced the charges, with ICE investigating the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Keith Henneke is prosecuting it. This case is part of Operation Take Back America, a DOJ initiative targeting illegal immigration, cartels, and transnational criminal organizations.
Remember, a criminal complaint is just an allegation, and Bahlouli is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
