ISIS Hostage-Taker Kotey Sentenced to Life in Prison

An avowed member of ISIS, Alexanda Kotey, has been sentenced to life in prison for his role in a horrific hostage-taking scheme that resulted in the deaths of four U.S. citizens and several international nationals in Syria.

The victims, James Wright Foley, Kayla Jean Mueller, Steven Joel Sotloff, and Peter Edward Kassig, were journalists and humanitarian aid workers who risked their lives to shine a light on the darkest corners of the globe and help others in need.

Kotey pleaded guilty to all charges, including his participation in the hostage-taking scheme that led to the deaths of the four American victims. He has agreed to spend the rest of his life in prison.
