Bruquanna Griffin, a 21-year-old Jacksonville resident, has pleaded guilty to stealing firearms and conspiring with another individual to pilfer guns from at least three local gun stores. The audacious scheme resulted in Griffin facing a maximum penalty of 15 years in federal prison.
Griffin’s criminal enterprise reached its peak during the summer of 2017 when she and her co-conspirator systematically targeted Jacksonville’s firearm dealerships. The duo’s modus operandi was simple yet effective: while one distracted sales staff, Griffin would悄无声息地潜入柜台，偷走多把手枪。据调查，她曾从一家店铺中盗取多达五支手枪。
The scheme came to an end on August 23, 2017, when Griffin attempted to exit a gun store with two stolen pistols concealed in her purse. She was promptly arrested and confessed to her involvement, revealing that her partner in crime would either keep, sell, or trade the stolen guns for drugs.
This high-stakes heist was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) and the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office. Assistant United States Attorney Michael J. Coolican is handling the prosecution.
The case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), an initiative that has united all levels of law enforcement to combat violent crime and safeguard neighborhoods. Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced the revitalization of PSN in 2017, emphasizing districtwide crime reduction strategies. In Florida’s Middle District, U.S. Attorney Maria Chapa Lopez leads PSN efforts.
Griffin is scheduled to be sentenced at a later date. Her conviction underscores the gravity of gun-related crimes and the collaborative efforts of law enforcement to keep communities safe.
