In a shocking turn of events, JADE BELINDA ADAMS, a 33-year-old woman from Durant, Oklahoma, has pled guilty to THEFT OF PUBLIC MONIES, a federal crime that carries severe penalties.
The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma announced that ADAMS pleaded guilty to the crime, which is punishable by not more than 10 years imprisonment, and up to a $250,000.00 fine or both, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 641.
According to the Indictment, ADAMS willfully and knowingly stole and purloined monies in excess of $1,000.00 belonging to the United States from in or about September 2012 to on or about November 30, 2016, in the Eastern District of Oklahoma.
The investigation that led to ADAMS’ guilty plea was conducted by the Choctaw Nation Tribal Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The charge is a serious one, and the fact that ADAMS pleaded guilty suggests that the evidence against her was overwhelming.
The Honorable Kimberly E. West, Magistrate Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, in Muskogee, accepted the plea and ordered the completion of a presentence investigation report. ADAMS will remain in custody pending a sentencing hearing, which will determine the exact punishment she will face.
Assistant United States Attorney Edward Snow represented the United States in this case, and his efforts have resulted in a significant victory for the government. The fact that ADAMS has pleaded guilty to THEFT OF PUBLIC MONIES sends a strong message that those who engage in such crimes will be held accountable.
The guilty plea is also a testament to the hard work and dedication of the law enforcement agencies involved in the investigation. The Choctaw Nation Tribal Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation worked tirelessly to gather evidence and build a case against ADAMS, and their efforts have paid off.
