A 53-year-old Jamaican national cast a ballot in Florida’s presidential primary election, despite not being a US citizen. Jacqueline Wallace, a Tallahassee resident, requested a mail-in ballot in July 2024 and submitted it by US mail.
Court documents show Wallace knew she wasn’t a US citizen at the time she voted. Her ballot was received on August 12, 2024, and her vote was registered and cast on August 20, 2024.
Wallace’s actions sparked a federal investigation by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations. She pleaded guilty to voting by an alien and faces sentencing in June 2026.
US Attorney John P. Heekin warned that protecting the integrity of US elections is non-negotiable. ‘Registering to vote and casting a ballot in our elections are actions that we must ensure are taken only by eligible US citizens,’ he said.
The case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative to combat illegal immigration, dismantle cartels and transnational criminal organizations, and protect communities from violent crime.
