Wheeling, West Virginia – In a disturbing revelation, a Buckhannon man has confessed to possessing child pornography, as announced by United States Attorney Bill Powell.

James Andrew Smith, a 57-year-old man, pleaded guilty to one count of ‘Possession of Child Pornography.’ The crime took place in November 2015 in Upshur County, West Virginia.

Notably, Smith has a prior conviction for the same offense, making his current admission all the more concerning. He admitted to having computer disks and other materials containing child pornography in his possession.

Smith is now facing severe consequences for his actions. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, he may receive up to 20 years of incarceration and a fine of up to $250,000. The actual sentence will be determined by the seriousness of the offenses and Smith’s prior criminal history, if any.
