James Hedelsky, 59, Sentenced to Life in Prison for Methamphetamine Conspiracy

A Georgia resident has been sentenced to life in federal prison for his role in a methamphetamine conspiracy in Tennessee.

James Hedelsky, 59, of Bartow County, Ga, was sentenced to serve life in prison by the Honorable Travis R. McDonough, U.S. District Judge, on January 12, 2017.

The sentence was based on Hedelsky’s prior criminal history, which includes several felony drug convictions, as well as manslaughter, assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

The indictment and subsequent conviction of Hedelsky were the results of an investigation conducted by the 17th Judicial Drug Task Force and Drug Enforcement Administration.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael D. Porter represented the United States in the case, which involved the distribution and possession of 50 grams or more of methamphetamine in the Eastern District of Tennessee.

Hedelsky’s life sentence also included an enhancement for possessing a firearm during relevant conduct related to the methamphetamine distribution offenses.
