Jared Andrew Novy, 39, of Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania, is going away for a long time — 360 months, to be exact. On May 9, 2019, U.S. District Judge A. Richard Caputo slammed Novy with the maximum federal sentence for the production of child pornography, a crime that leaves scars no statute can erase.
The sentence follows Novy’s guilty plea in July 2018, in which he admitted to creating multiple videos and images showing minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct. The evidence, described in court filings as deeply disturbing, detailed a pattern of exploitation that federal prosecutors say betrayed the worst kind of trust. Before the federal case, Novy had already faced justice in Carbon County, where he pleaded guilty and was sentenced on related state charges involving sexual abuse of minors.
