Utica Man Pleads Guilty to Child Pornography Charges in New York

A disturbing case of child exploitation has come to light in Utica, New York, as 56-year-old Daniel Beal pleaded guilty to distributing, receiving, and possessing child pornography. According to court documents, Beal used a Peer-to-Peer file sharing program to distribute images of child pornography, with investigators recovering thousands of images and hundreds of videos from his business, Dacobe Enterprises, LLC, on July 29, 2015.

As part of his guilty plea, Beal admitted to distributing child pornography through the file sharing program. This is a serious offense that carries significant penalties, and Beal is facing a minimum of five years and up to 20 years of imprisonment on each of the distribution and receipt counts. Additionally, he faces up to ten years of imprisonment on the possession counts. The Court will also impose a term of supervised release of between five years and life, and Beal will be required to register as a sex offender.

Beal’s sentencing is scheduled for January 26, 2017, in Syracuse, New York. The Court will determine the final sentence based on the particular statute the defendant is charged with violating, the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines, and other factors.
