Jason G. Aman, Online Enticement of a Minor, Florida 2012

A Merritt Island man was sentenced to 10 years in prison for online enticement of a minor to travel to engage in sexual activity. Jason G. Aman (30, Merritt Island) was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Charlene Edwards Honeywell in Orlando, Florida.

Aman pleaded guilty on June 3, 2013, to online enticement of a minor to travel to engage in sexual activity. He was arrested on November 10, 2012, after initiating contact in an Internet chat room with an undercover agent whom he believed to be a “14-year-old girl.”

According to court documents, Aman used graphic and explicit sexual language expressing his desire to engage in sexual activity with the girl whom he acknowledged was 14 years old. He instructed the “14-year-old” to wear certain clothing and arranged to meet with her in Brevard County.

When Aman arrived at the arranged location, he encountered undercover agents and was arrested. This case was investigated by the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI).

This case was prosecuted by Special Assistant United States Attorney Myrna Amelia Mesa. Aman was also ordered to serve a 5-year term of supervised release and to register as a sex offender, upon his release from prison.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
