HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – In a shocking revelation, Jason Robert Henthorne, 47, of Milton, pleaded guilty to possession of prepubescent child pornography. The disturbing crime was uncovered in June 2021, when authorities discovered over 1,000 images and videos of child pornography stored on electronic devices at Henthorne’s residence.
According to court documents and statements made in court, Henthorne admitted to possessing images and videos that depicted infants and prepubescent children subjected to sadistic or masochistic conduct. One of the images even showed adult males sexually assaulting a prepubescent female.
Henthorne is scheduled to be sentenced on April 17, 2023, and faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison, five years and up to a lifetime of supervised release, and a $250,000 fine. The harsh punishment serves as a warning to those who engage in such heinous crimes.
United States Attorney Will Thompson commended the investigative work of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security-Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) for their role in bringing Henthorne to justice.
The case was prosecuted as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. Led by the United States Attorney’s Offices and the Criminal Division’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute those who sexually exploit children, and to identify and rescue victims.
Henthorne’s guilty plea is a significant step towards holding him accountable for his crimes. As the community continues to grapple with the devastating effects of child exploitation, it is essential that we prioritize the safety and well-being of our children.
